ESME8.com is the culmination of over 15 years
of digital learning leadership in schools.
ESME8 stands for Explore, See, Make, Explain and Question. It is designed to help pre-school children begin making sense of the digital world and practice making things happen digitally while learning. Spending time on ESME8.com helps children aged 3-6 build the vocabulary, knowledge and skills to maximize their capacities as creators by integrating the “Mindware" that empowers kids to integrate and apply technology effectively to teach themselves. I am a parent and former director of digital learning/technology coach within international schools who wants to help my daughter be the best independent learner she can be. By leveraging the ESME8 platform she is learning while developing her digital literacy and digital leadership skills. The site is new and will be perpetually "under construction" while being created, curated and adjusted according to user needs/feedback and discovery of new resources. To extend the learning, a set of character driven narratives are also under development. ALL SCREEN TIME IS NOT CREATED EQUAL The “screen time” debate is fueled in large part because curating a healthy digital ecosystem for kids takes time and effort that many parents don't have. ESME8 is a site for digital learning only: no social media, no paid game sites or apps and no "trendy" games like Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnight, etc.. AN AUTODIDACTIC SPRINGBOARD There is no substitute for play and making discoveries in the real world, but highly curated digital learning resources (when focused on learning and in moderation) enriches and enhances kid’s lives. |
